City Circle rounds off Expo with 17-vehicle order for Scania08 November 2018

Coach operator City Circle (UK) placed its latest order with Scania at the recent Euro Bus Expo, for 17 new Irizar i6S coaches for delivery in 2019.

This order brings the number of Scania vehicles purchased by the London and Edinburgh-based operator to 98 in the last five years.

The latest order is for 15 Scania K 410 EB6x2*4 chassis with Irizar i6S bodywork, 13.2m overall length. The vehicles have 53 reclining passenger seats, centre sunken toilet/washroom and Frenzel kitchen. Additional features include reversing and road cameras, and integrated satnav.

The order also includes two Scania K 360 EB4x2 chassis with 10.8m overall length Irizar i6S bodywork. These will feature 36 reclining seats, rear floor-mounted toilet and washroom, and a server with built-in units for fridges and drinks, fitted by AD Coach Systems.

All 17 new vehicles have dark tinted glass and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels as well as wifi, CCTV system and USB charging points. All vehicles also feature Scania’s fully automated Opticruise transmission system.

“We have a strong relationship with Scania. They offer a reliable and high quality product as well as fantastic back up from the dealer network,” says Neil Pegg, managing director of City Circle (UK).

“They went over and above for me back in 2013 by designing a vehicle to our specification, that wasn’t in the Scania or Irizar range. From that day on, we’ve continued to have a strong working relationship and we’ve had close to 100 vehicles as a result.”
