Clarkes and Stewarts dub Irizar i8 Integrals flagship coaches02 August 2016

London-based Clarkes Coaches and Stewarts Coaches, which operates out of Reading, have both gone public in praise of their recently delivered new Irizar i8 Integral coaches.

Clarkes’ director Terry Newman says his new Irizar i8 Integral is now the fleet flagship vehicle.

Based on the DAF chassis, it boasts the 460bhp MX13 engine driving through ZF’s AS-Tronic AMT (automated manual transmission), and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) equipment including Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control.

“We knew the i8 Integral was perfect for our team coach when we first saw it in Spain as a production prototype,” comments Newman, adding that the vehicle has been fitted out with a VIP interior for Clarkes’ contract with Watford Football Club.

His 14-metre tri-axle coach now has 36 leather seats, seated in groups of four around tables, plus a hand-built central kitchen. Additional equipment includes contactless phone charging, USB and mains sockets, and LCD screens at each table.

Meanwhile, Stewarts Coaches alwo went for the VIP treatment on its 34-seater, customised for its football team work – again with the MX13 and AS-Tronic.

“It has exceeded all our expectations,” states CEO Andy Cotton. “It’s a real flagship for this business, and our passengers and drivers love it.

“In terms of the ergonomics of the coach, they are on another level, especially the dashboard and driver controls. On the road, you can’t even feel the gearshifts, and the i8 has real presence,” he adds.
