Clean up with refurbished Britannia washing system21 December 2017

Smith Brothers & Webb has announced that it is now offering fully refurbished versions of its Britannia washing system for commercial vehicles.

The refurbishment programme will, says the company, deliver cost-effective solutions for operators, as they can swap out an old machine for an ‘as-new’ version, complete with 12-month warranty.

As well as the cost advantage, the manufacturer says there will be no downtime for operators as refurbished machines will be held in stock.

“While we are still continuing to manufacture new machines, we recognised that in some cases a more cost-effective solution was required,” says Harvey Alexander, chairman of Smith Brothers & Webb.

“Our new refurbishment programme not only reduces capital expenditure, but also eliminates the need for additional civil works which would be required when installing a new machine. It’s a win-win,” he adds.

The refurbishment covers all aspects of the Britannia system, including mechanical and electrical components. On decommissioning, the machines are delivered back the company’s plant in Alcester where they are stripped and blasted to enable the inspection of welded joints. All mechanical parts are discarded.

After quality checks, the machine is hot galvanised and reassembled with new components.

The company is also offering reclaim units, to enable operators to reduce water consumption.
