Clive Hurt fleet adds two Stonemaster tippers 28 May 2013

A pair of Stonemaster-bodied tippers has recently joined the 50-strong fleet of Leyland-based Clive Hurt (Plant Hire).

Designed to provide a 20-tonne payload with the majority of standard specification 8x4 chassis, these tippers have been mounted on Scania's latest Construction version of its 8x4 chassis.

For tipping, Edbro's TS32 under-floor tipping gear has also been fitted for its inherent strength and stability.

With the addition of the Stonemasters, every tipper in the Hurt fleet now uses a Thompsons body. The new additions slot nicely between its heavy-duty Loadmaster and aluminium Sandmaster sister products.

"Stonemaster will have a particular place in our fleet," states director Alan Hurt.

"It's strong, so it can carry heavier materials that we wouldn't want to put in an aluminium body. But its light, too, giving us a useable payload advantage over the heavy duty steel bodies," he continues.

And Hurt adds: "Payload is important, but its not everything. We also want trucks that are practical and productive, yet also offering the highest standards of safety and reliability.

"Low operating costs and maximum residual values are also of key importance to a large tipper fleet such as ours."
