Coach additions deliver on fuel efficiency and service01 June 2015

Fuel efficiency, reliability and service are key factors cited by operators in the latest batch of coach order announcements.

Daish Coaches has continued its relationship with Volvo, adding two new B11R coaches to its 20-strong fleet which transports holidaymakers to each of the firm's seven hotels in the South and South West.

"We like the B11R as it is versatile, fuel efficient and it's the perfect size coach for our requirements," says John Stoneman, operations manager.

Irizar Coaches, meanwhile, has two new customers in the shape of Eagle Coaches and Prospect Coaches, both of which have taken delivery of an i6 Integral.

James Ball of Bristol-based Eagle says: "We'd read really good reports and spoken to owners about the i6, particularly on fuel economy.

"We also thought it was great value for money… It's been out every day since we've had it and our driver, who has 20 years' experience, says it's the best coach he's ever driven."

West Midlands-based Prospect has the same model, a 12.9m, 57-seater, powered by DAF's Euro 5 Pr265 engine delivering 360bhp.

For Prospect's transport manager Nathan Hadley, build quality and service back-up were key, notably Irizar's iService facility, an online bank of data for each vehicle. "I am personally impressed with the level of information supplied and, when backed up with the online service, this should be second to none," he says.
