Collett reaches new heights with heavyweight Effer crane09 September 2014

Halifax-based heavy haulage firm Collett Transport has taken delivery of a Mercedes 8x4 4155 tractor with 205-tonne/metre Effer 2055 crane, the largest of its kind in Europe.

Supplied by Atlas Cranes UK, Collett's latest addition uses six boom extensions to provide a maximum reach and lift capacity of 30,000kg at 4.51m and 8,550kg at 15.25m.

The hydraulic folding crane is based on a tractor unit with a maximum axle load of 16,500kg and gvw of 150 tonnes.

The crane is the first of this capacity to come off the Effer production line in Italy.

David Collett, managing director at Collett, says the equipment will give his business "unique lifting capabilities", adding: "We were confident that the acquisition of this machine would be the ideal addition to our fleet. We are delighted with the results."
