Commercial Vehicle Forum to focus on road transport for economic recovery 05 October 2012

The Commercial Vehicle Forum 2012, which takes place at the IMechE in London on 15 November, aims to review key transport industry issues, including the challenges of new legislation, skills and operators' uptake of new technologies aimed at improving performance, emissions and economy.

Panellists at the event will include: Rob Flello MP, chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Freight Group; Robert Gifford, executive director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS); and David Cebon, professor of mechanical engineering at Cambridge University and research director at Cambridge Vehicle Dynamics Consortium.

They will be joined by industry big hitters, including: Ray Ashworth, managing director of DAF Trucks UK; Des Evans, chief executive of MAN UK; Neil Ridley, director of the Transport Knowledge Transfer Network; Dave Rowlands, technical services director, Wincanton Group; and Iain Speak, chief executive of Bibby Distribution.

According to the organisers, subjects under the microscope will range from how to make Britain's four million vans and trucks more efficient and cleaner, to the likely pace the UK economic recovery, and how the transport sector is delivering productivity, skills and safety gains.

The Commercial Vehicle Forum 2012 is being supported by AA Drivetech, Bridgestone UK, Brigade Electronics, Greenchem Solutions, Isuzu Truck (UK) and Squarell Technology.

It has been organised jointly by IRTE Services, the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) and The Road Haulage Association – the three organisations behind the CV Show.
