Commercial vehicle MOT pass rates improve again 04 October 2013

First-time pass rates for MOTs continue to improve for all commercial vehicle categories, according to VOSA's 2012/13 effectiveness report.

Figures show first-time passes were: 81.5% for buses; 77.6% for heavy goods vehicles; and 84.3% for trailers.

There has also been a significant increase in the number of non-VOSA sites testing heavy vehicles and buses. During 2012/13, more than half (55%) of tests were carried out at non-VOSA sites, compared to 39% the previous year. Today, the figure stands at around 70%.

VOSA and Driving Standards Agency (the new consolidated name will be announced shortly) chief executive Alastair Peoples says: "The findings in this report support what I have always believed: that collaboration between VOSA and the transport sector can lead the way to safer roads for UK motorists."

The report itself describes VOSA's work to ensure the compliance of buses, trucks, MOT garages and specialist schemes for road safety. t can be accessed via the link below.
