Scania reveals 1,000 order truck deal for Stobart and AWJ28 January 2010

Scania has revealed its largest ever order in the UK, with the signing of a 1,000 truck deal under the joint Stobart Group and A W Jenkinson Forest Products procurement agreement.

Mainly comprising R-series tractive units, the order also includes Scania G-series vehicles, with deliveries due to commence in March.

"The operating efficiency and all-round value delivered by the Scania product is well-known and appreciated by both our companies," comments Stobart group chief operating officer William Stobart.

"The order is an 80/20% split in Stobart's favour, which comprises of vehicle replacement plus new growth within the group," he adds.

And he confirms that the 400 and 440hp engines specified meet the Euro 5 emissions standard using exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), "without the need for any additives or exhaust gas after-treatment, which offers considerable advantages from an operational point-of-view".

The order comprises mainly R 440 LA6x2/4MNA Highline cab right and left hand drive tractor units and G 400 LA4x2MNA standard sleeper cab right hand drive tractor units.
