CV Operator Show set to answer burning transport questions 02 April 2010

For operators and vehicle makers concerned with keeping existing vehicles running longer and more efficiently, as well as coping with new legislation, the upcoming Commercial Vehicle Operator Show (13—15 April) should provide answers.

According to the show partnership, the 300 exhibitors will collectively be presenting a huge range of systems and technology aimed directly at helping to cut fuel use, operating costs, emissions etc.

And, with CV Show LLP comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and IRTE Services (the trading company of the SOE), we're talking about some reputable organisations.

CV Show LLP cites everything from fleet management software to tyre pressure monitoring and axle weighing kit. It also points to issues such as Whole Vehicle Type Approval, advising show visitors to get along to the SMMT stand to find out about its special advisory service aimed at helping vehicle makers.

SMMT is launching SENTA at the CV Operator Show, to help steer bodybuilders and trailer makers through "a thicket of much misunderstood legislation".

SMMT explains that someone invariably needs to sign to indicate that a complete vehicle, including chassis, cab, body, tail-lift, side-guards and under-run protection, meets all the rules.

"The crucial point is that without Type Approval paperwork, you won't be able to register a new vehicle," says the SMMT. "And, of course, if you can't register it, you can't sell it. The line to remember is 'no approval, no registration, no sale."
