Meynall chooses Renault Landers and Kerax tippers for fuel economy03 September 2010

Three new 8x4 Renault Premium Landers, with centre mounted hiab cranes, along with six Renault Kerax 370.32 tippers, have been received by Meynell Plant Hire.

The trucks, which all have Weightlifter steel bodies, are the first Renaults to join the 50-strong fleet at Meynall, and will soon be followed by a Midlum with demount box body.

Primarily responsible for muck shifting and stone delivery, the Kerax tippers will work on site at Meynall's parent company, Jelson Holdings. The Landers will operate from Jelson Holdings' breeze block manufacturing subsidiary, Interfuse, delivering to construction sites across the country.

"The Renault Premium Lander is versatile enough for delivery to our building sites, with the comfort of a high-spec cab and automatic gearbox for motorway driving," comments Troy Harrison, operations manager at Meynell Plant Hire.

But he also highlights benefits in fuel economy: "The first Renault Premium Lander has been on the road for a couple of months now and already we are seeing an excellent fuel return of 8.3mpg – better than any other truck on our fleet," says Harrison.

He is also quick to praise Kerax's power and build quality, which he believe makes the vehicle ideally suited to construction work.
