Lockwood adds first Schmitz trailers to haulage fleet04 January 2011

Lockwood Haulage has taken delivery of eight Freepost trailers and two Euroliner curtainsiders, from Schmitz Cargobull, to cope with increasing business.

The Derbyshire-based haulier now has a total of 95 trailers, but this is the first time it has gone for Schmitz vehicles – and operations director Wayne Evans says one of the major attractions was the focus on the driver.

"I saw a prototype of the Freepost model at a customer event organised by Schmitz Cargobull in 2008," recalls Evans.

"The buckles are quick and simple to fasten and release, while the trailer's controls are straightforward and easy to follow and arranged in an ergonomically comfortable position," he adds.

"The front bulk head has also been designed in a way that allows more space for the curtain pole to be stored, and self-locating pole guides top and bottom ensure that the curtain is extremely simple for the driver to work with," he continues.
