Lynch selects Renault Kerax for next generation grab trucks 25 November 2010

L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage has taken delivery of the first four of 24 new 8x4 Renault Kerax rigids, ordered through Renault Trucks Chiltern.

Rob Lynch, director at L Lynch, says that the Renault Kerax scored highly against competitors for their robustness and suitability for on- and off-road use – enabling these Renaults to join the firm's 137-strong mixed fleet of Volvos, Scanias and DAFs.

The trucks have been fitted with grab cranes by body builder Massey Truck Engineering.

Says Lynch: "These new vehicles represent a significant project and investment for us and, as such, we went through a very big procurement process. We evaluated all the main manufacturers, in terms of value and reliability, and the Renault Kerax came out on top."

And he adds: "The Kerax is a powerful, sturdy vehicle, well suited to both on- and off-road use and we feel it is an excellent truck on which to mount our bespoke grab lorries. If all goes well, we are looking to purchase a further 50 Renault Kerax."

Lynch says that his company's clients look to the firm to keep improving the safety of its vehicles, and hence the current focus on 'visual safety'.

"These new vehicles have safety features, such as painting the access points yellow to clearly identify them. Renault Trucks worked with us and the bodybuilder to create the next generation of Lynch grab lorry, which we are all very excited about," he says.

The vehicles will be used in the utility and civil engineering sectors, where they will be transporting spoil from site or roadside to disposal facilities across London, the Midlands and South East.
