Scania tractor units for McBurney, Northern Ireland 10 January 2011

McBurney Transport, the largest haulier in Northern Ireland, is adding a dozen Scania units to its truck fleet line-up.

The investment – part of the company's ongoing fleet replacement programme – comprises 11 R480 LA 6x2 4MNA Topline twin-steer tractor units, delivered now, with a further flagship R 730 LA 6x2 4MNA Topline tractor unit scheduled for delivery during the spring.

All of the tractor units are plated at 44-tonnes gross train weight and will be mated to tri-axle Gray and Adams refrigerated trailers and SDC curtainsiders, undertaking a variety of operations throughout Northern Ireland, Great Britain and Europe.

"There's no doubting the quality of Scania vehicles; they are excellent, reliable products that perform well in all situations," comments McBurney Transport founder Norman McBurney.

All the trucks are being supplied by Road Trucks, the Scania dealer for Northern Ireland. "The support we receive from Road Trucks is also first class and it is reassuring to know that other members of Scania's international service network are never far away, should we ever need them," comments McBurney.

The R 730, still to be delivered, features Scania's 730bhp 3,500Nm torque V8 power unit, and is being purchased specifically for use on the company's long-distance European routes.
