Concrete orders for Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Arocs mixers 11 September 2014

So impressed was Tor Multimix with its first two new Euro 6 Mercedes-Benz Arocs construction chassis that it has returned to dealer Rygor with an order for two more.

Tor Multimix's first two vehicles are both 6x4 Arocs 2633s specified with 326bhp engines mated to Mercedes PowerShift 3 automated transmissions.

One was fitted with a 6m3 mixer drum by McPhee Bros, while the other has a Thompsons Sandmaster alumnium tipping body, delivering a payload of nearly 16 tonnes.

Both Arocs were the subject of seven-year Mercedes-Benz R&M contracts. Inspection and servicing are at Rygor's Chilcompton depot, with all work undertaken at night.

"We're very pleased with these new 26-tonners," says the firm's Michelle Gardener. "They've been well received by the drivers, who like the smooth-changing transmissions, and I'm confident they'll prove to be every bit as reliable and cost-effective as our previous Mercedes vehicles."

Gardener says the Arocs also look great and double as mobile advertisements.

The Glastonbury-based operator, which supplies ready-mix concrete, floor screeds and aggregates, runs a fleet of 11 trucks, from 7.5 to 32 tonnes gvw – all Mercedes apart from two 7.5-tonne Fuso Canter tippers.
