Continental launches new tyre range for intercity buses08 January 2020

Continental has launched Conti CoachRegio, a new tyre line for intercity buses.

The range includes an all-axle fitment tyre, the CoachRegio HA3 295/80 R 22.5 (pictured), and a dedicated drive axle tyre, the CoachRegio HD3. The latter will also be available from the end of this year as ContiRe CoachRegio HD3, manufactured using Continental’s hot retreading solution.

The CoachRegio range carries the 3PMSF mark and delivers a load capability of LI 154/149 – the highest load capability for drive axle tyres in the coach and intercity segment, thanks to a durable and robust casing, says the tyre maker.

Both the all-axle and drive axle tyres have EU ratings of ‘C’ for fuel efficiency and ‘B’ for wet grip, with a rolling noise of 71dB for the all-axle tyre and 73dB for drive axle tyre.

The HD3 also features a new tie-bar shoulder design to increase robustness and minimise damage from kerb impact, while its full-depth 3D sipes enhance water displacement for better traction.

The HA3 has full-depth siping technology for good wet and winter performance, with straight grooves in the outer ribs for structural stability as well as zig-zag inner grooves to prevent stone trapping.

Lutz Stäbner, head of product management for truck and bus tyres in EMEA, says: “With this new tyre line, our balanced compound has enabled Continental to overcome the technical challenge of developing a tyre with increased safety and mileage, while also delivering low rolling resistance performance for regional bus applications.”
