Course guaranteed to save fuel, or your money back12 February 2010

Volvo Construction Equipment is opening a training school at Duxford, Cambridgeshire next Monday (February 15), to improve their practical content – although its 'Eco Operator' course will still run at operator's premises.

The Eco Operator course, which aims to reduce fuel consumption, involves fitting electronics to the truck both during instruction and six weeks later, to measure sustained improvement.

It uses Volvo's Matris machine tracking and information system to retrieve data and, says Volvo, is about helping drivers to work more efficiently – avoiding wheel spin and other energy wasting operations.

Should no improvement be detected during the follow up, Volvo Construction Equipment guarantees your money back – although with a few caveats, such as requiring that the same operator be working with the same machine.

The company will offers 20 courses from its new training centre at what it calls nominal charges, usually £400 per person for a mid Monday to mid-Friday course.

Prices for the Eco-Operator course remain priced at £500 for one person, reducing to £300 per person for five or six operators.
