Coventry owner operator goes for Volvo FH-500 09 March 2016

Coventry-based owner operator Bill Wheatley has put a Volvo FH-500 6x2 tractor unit into service – his first new truck but his fourth Volvo.

His new truck was specifried with Dynafleet telematics, the I-Shift automated gearbox, factory-fitted air-horns and a low-height fifth wheel enabling a coupling height of under one metre.

Wheatley explains that the low-height fifth wheel is to enable an overall height of four metres for European operation – a feature of his truck specs since his first Volvo, which was a four-year-old T-plate FH12-420 LHD model in 2003.

He also says that he chooses Volvo trucks because of the marque’s reputation for safety and the back-up he has received over the years from the Volvo dealer network.

Wheatley’s new Volvo FH-500 is on a three-year Volvo Gold R&M contract with Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia at Coventry which supplied this new FH.
