Cranleigh Freight Services sees 2.92 per cent fuel savings with Shell Rimula R6 LME 28 November 2013

European long-haul operator Cranleigh Freight Services is reporting 2.92% fuel savings – equating to £98,500 per annum – since switching to Shell Rimula R6 LME 5W-30 synthetic engine oil.

Distributor Silgo Lubricants, with support from the Shell technical team, recommended the change in view of the fleet's high mileage and this heavy-duty diesel oil's proven ability to improve fuel economy, compared with high-viscosity oils, without compromising engine protection or durability.

The improvement was recorded after a 13 week trial on a mixed fleet of Cranleigh Freight Services' long haul trucks, which serve continental Europe from the UK.

Shell Rimula R6 LME oil features Shell's advanced low SAPS (sulphated ash, phosphorus and sulphur) additive technology and anti-wear system.

Shell claims that its protective power is enhanced through the use of synthetic base oil technology that "increases additive activity to deliver low-viscosity fuel-saving performance".

Shell Rimula R6 LME is also compatible with exhaust emissions control systems, and offers extended maintenance intervals. Shell says it is suitable for Euro 4, 5 and 6 vehicles.
