CV Show ‘more relevant than ever’ – SMMT 10 March 2017

“More relevant than ever.” That’s how the Society of Motor Manufacturer’s boss Mike Hawes is describing the Commercial Vehicle Show, taking place next month (25-27 April) at the NEC, Birmingham.

Hawes points to strong growth in the light commercial vehicle and HGV markets last year, and says the SMMT is pleased to see HGV manufacturers returning to the show.

He adds: “Keen interest across the commercial vehicle market, however, is creating a boom for additional goods and services. Whether that’s trailers, parts and components, telematics, driver assistance systems, fleet management software or specialist conversions, the CV Show is the perfect shop window for them all.”

One truck maker returning to the show is DAF, which will be exhibiting a mix of models from its LF, CF and XF ranges, as well as promoting its DAF Transport Efficiency offer – a range of enhancements such as Silent Mode and Predictive Cruise Control. The company will also showcase DAF Connect, its new pan-European online fleet management system.

For operators looking for a telematics solution, Brigade Electronics will be launching a 3G-enabled camera system at the event. This will allow users to access footage and vehicle information, such as speed and location, in real time. The system has previously been available, but the new version is offered as a fully managed and hosted solution.

Transdek UK will be launching a new XL double-deck trailer, built for Boots UK, at the CV Show. The company will also be exhibiting one of its award winning wedge trailers and the latest V2G (vehicle to ground) modular, integrated lift-loadhouse.

Also on show will be: Truckman’s range of pick-up accessories, including its latest range of secure hardtops; Total UK’s range of lubricants, along with services such as ANAC, a driveline diagnostic system which, says Total, can save £10 for every £1 spent on oil analysis; and FORS Professional, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme’s suite of training courses for drivers and transport managers.
