DAF launches new Euro 6 LF and CF series 10 April 2013

DAF Trucks took the wraps off its new Euro 6 LF and CF models at the NEC's CV Show, and debuted its Euro 6 PACCAR MX-11 engine in the UK.

The manufacturer says that the new tractor units have been developed "for maximum transport efficiency, market-leading low operating costs and optimum vehicle performance".

"With the launch of the new LF and CF models, DAF has introduced a complete new range of efficient Euro 6 vehicles," commented Harrie Schippers, DAF president.

"The Euro 6 project is the largest investment and development program in DAF's 85-year history, resulting in industry leading products for highest customer satisfaction," he added.

The new Euro 6 LF is aimed at distribution while the new Euro 6 CF has been designed for applications varying from regional transportation to heavy construction.

The new trucks' appearances disguise the scale of change: DAF has developed a new chassis, new drivelines and an updated aerodynamic exterior design. The interiors of the duo have also been completely renewed, with new seats, new instrument panels having colour information display and new steering instrumented wheels. A range of powerful and efficient PACCAR engines is available for the new Euro 6 LF and CF, including the 4.5 and 6.7 litre PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7 engines, as well as the new 10.8 and 12.9 litre PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines.

All these power plants incorporate a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system, a variable geometry turbocharger and EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), SCR (selective catalytic reduction) and DPF (diesel particulate filter) after-treatment technologies.

Production of the Euro 6 CF is planned to start mid-year, with the Euro 6 LF distribution truck entering production in the fourth quarter of 2013.
