DAF LF extra-quiet truck joins CF and XF revolution 29 October 2015

DAF has launched an extra-quiet distribution truck variant to its LF rigid range – adding to its existing CF and XF Silent trucks under its DAF Transport Efficiency theme.

Now that PIEK certification has been granted on its Paccar PX-5 engine (at 150bhp and 180bhp), DAF says its lightweight 4x2 LF rigids for early morning and night-time urban operations are now available to UK operators.

In its special Silent Mode, activated by a dashboard button, the extra-quiet LF shows noise emissions below 72 dB(A), meeting the Quiet Truck standard.

As a result, tThe LF Silent can allow operational flexibility outside peak periods, so helping to reduce congestion and, importantly, reducing the risk of accidents involving vulnerable road users, says DAF.

The new 7.5-tonne DAF LF Silent is powered by the 4.5-litre Paccar
PX-5 engine, with ratings of 152bhp and 184bhp and driving through the automated AS Tronic six-speed gearbox.

DAF says it can deliver the new LF Silent as a 4x2 rigid with a choice of day cab, extended day cab and sleeper cab, and with a range of wheelbase options.

The new extra-quiet LF is available to order now from DAF dealers.
