DAF LF trucks make their mark with highways contractor10 June 2014

Highways contractor WJ Roadmarkings has taken delivery of four Euro 6 DAF LF220 trucks, as part of an order of 10 for its specialist fleet.

The first four – all 12-tonne versions – are already in service, working in London on local authority contracts. These will be followed by 16- and 18-tonne LF models, which will carry heavy equipment for longer distance marking work and fitting of cats eyes.
The LF was chosen for its low weight, meaning more payload for equipment, including specialist kit to keep marking materials warm at 190 degrees.

The vehicles meet Transport for London and FORS requirements, as they are fitted with side view cameras, nearside scanners, rear warning signs and an audible (spoken) warning system when the driver indicates left.
"We chose the new DAF LF Euro 6 because it is light and the right size, which makes it more suitable for its role in and around London," says Mark Fawcett, general manager for Croydon-based WJ Roadmarkings.

The new trucks are supplied by dealer F&G Commercials in Huddersfield and will be serviced at HTC Croydon.
