DAF Trucks reports highest order intake since 200728 February 2019

DAF Trucks secured its highest order intake last year since 2007, despite the overall market dropping slightly, resulting in the manufacturer’s top spot for the 24th consecutive year with a 27% share above 6.0 tonnes gvw.

The company reports almost 15,000 orders for 2018, and 11,373 registrations, and says provisional figures for January 2019 show its market share increasing further.

Despite lower registrations at the start of 2018 – due in part, it says, to operators delaying some 2017 orders to wait for the new LF and CF multi-wheel configurations – the rest of the year saw an “extremely strong order intake” and it believes this will continue for the first half of 2019.

DAF’s 136-strong dealer network includes 58 DVSA-approved ATF locations, more than any other manufacturer in the UK.

“The DAF dealer network is, no doubt, a key contributory factor to the success of DAF Trucks in the UK,” said Robin Easton (pictured), managing director.

The DAFaid roadside assistance service dealt with 100,000 call-outs last year, reports the company, with operators met within 46 minutes of their call, and 80% of breakdowns resolved at the roadside.
