DAF XF receives good reaction from Airedale Chemicals20 November 2014

Chemical manufacturer and distributor Airedale Chemicals has taken delivery of three Euro 6 DAF XF trucks with drawbar trailers.

Supplied by Lancashire DAF in Preston, one of the trucks has a bespoke tanker body, by Crosslands Tankers of Accrington, for bulk distribution; the other two have curtainsider bodies and trailers for transporting packaged chemical products.

These were specified to make it easier to access site and to improve delivery efficiency, as the drawbar trailer unit can be dismounted for filling or unloading, while the other part can continue to another location or return to Airedale's base in West Yorkshire.

The trucks are also designed to comply with ADR ((European Agreement for the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) regulations, for transportation of hazardous chemical substances.

Each vehicle is fitted with a driver performance system to evaluate driving style and monitor fuel efficiency, and the positive results have led Airedale to place an order for two more.

Graham Bird, Airedale's transport manager, says the DAF trucks are well designed and have "competitive ongoing costs, with reasonably priced parts plus a good mpg fuel return".
