The vehicle enables the operator to make unrestricted deliveries to its luxury retail customers in central London, ahead of the introduction of the ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ) in 2020.
The Daily Natural Power has a box body, by Kira, with a folding tail-lift and hanging rails inside. A tracking system also helps to boost load security.
A 3.0-litre natural gas spark ignition engine delivers performance comparable to diesel, including 134bhp and up to 350Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,730rpm.
It is also 50% quieter than diesel, making it ideal for inner city deliveries. Running on CNG, the engine produces 12% fewer NOx emissions, 76% less particulate matter and up to 95% less CO2 emissions when using biomethane.
Michele Nascetti, country manager at Arcese UK, says IVECO’s knowledge and expertise in gas vehicle technology was a key factor in the decision.
He says: “Our drivers travel into London every day so we needed a manufacturer that could quickly supply gas-powered vehicles which already meet current and future emission standards.
“IVECO is a real leader in this market and showed us why the Daily Natural Power is perfect for our operations. We’re confident this addition to our UK fleet will play a key role for the next decade.”
In operation five days a week, the vehicle will operate from Arcese’s main UK depot in Tilbury, Essex.
