Davies International upgrades trailer fleet with new Carrier units06 February 2019

Fareham, Hampshire-based Davies International has taken delivery of ten new 13.6m temperature-controlled trailers, featuring the operator’s first Vector 1950 units from Carrier Transicold.

The operator is continuing a 30-year policy of running a 100% Carrier-cooled operation; its previous units were Vector 1850s and delivered reliable service for a decade.

Davies transports temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, ships’ stores and food products between the UK and mainland Europe, and specialises in cruise logistics, delivering to ships at domestic and international ports.

“The fact we kept our previous Vector units in service for ten years is testament to their build quality, and we have no doubt the new units will deliver the same impressive performance,” says Steven Davies, managing director, Davies International.

The operator uses Carrier’s DataCold 600 temperature recorder, which uses probes to monitor temperatures and identify any deviations, as well as Carrier’s recommended telematics system for live trailer location and temperature data.

The Vector 1950 units have an increased cooling capacity, giving faster pull-down speeds and the ability to haul larger loads over longer distances. They include Carrier’s patented E-Drive all-electric technology, which reduces fuel consumption and has a lower carbon footprint and quieter operation.

The equipment is supplied with the EverCold R&M package, which includes annual temperature control testing and certification, full regulatory checks, and access to the OneCall 24/7 incident management service.
