Dealers need to change as used van supplies grow, says RAC 25 February 2016

Quality and trust are becoming more of an issue for van dealers, as supply of used vans improves and buyers see more choice, according to the RAC.

The motorists’ organisation says that it is seeing growing interest from light commercial vehicle dealers in RAC BuySure, its used vehicle service that was extended late last year to cover vans up to 3.5 tonnes.

“There is more and better quality stock around at lower prices right now than has been the case for some time, “ says Mario Dolcezza, RAC head of dealer propositions.

“Many of the better dealers in the sector have differentiated themselves in recent years by attempting to monopolise the best stock, and pricing accordingly – but this may no longer be possible,” he continues.

“This is one of the reasons, we believe, that we have seen a promising initial level of interest in RAC BuySure – because it allows dealers that concentrate on quality to associate themselves with the RAC brand and the standards it represents.”

RAC BuySure was launched two years ago originally for used cars, but since then has been adopted by more than 200 dealers across the UK.

It is designed to provide customers with a nationwide approved used vehicle scheme that sets high standards in line with the RAC brand.
