DFDS returns to Gray & Adams for refrigerated trailers 09 January 2013

Danish-owned DFDS Logistics has begun taking deliveries of a new batch of single- and multi-temperature refrigerated 13.6m flexible semi-trailers from Gray & Adams.

DFDS commercial director Andy Scott says he returned to Gray & Adams, following the success of the first tranche of trailers a couple of years ago, which were built to his organisation's specification.

Its last trailers were all equipped with Gray & Adams' partition system, which uses movable panels that allow internal compartments to be configured, each with different temperatures. Scott explains that when single-temperature operation is required, the panels can be folded away or removed.

Gray & Adams also supplied DFDS with lifting floor twin-deck trailers, and more recently with 15.65m single-deckers for the company's Peterborough depot as part of a Department for Transport- trial of longer trailers.

"Gray & Adams is widely recognised as the market leader when it comes to bespoke, temperature-controlled transport solutions, but our latest orders have been for more mainstream equipment," comments Scott.

"Gray & Adams continues to secure our business by meeting our requirements on high-quality build standard, competitive pricing and adherence to tight delivery schedules," he continues.

"And its service is first class too. Under the guidance of managing director Billy Dougan, the Gray & Adams Ireland team is very attentive, working closely with our own workshop to ensure that our imprest stock of sale-or-return parts is always up to date."

DFDS' latest trailers are based at Belfast Harbour, providing refrigerated and ambient transport services for full and part loads between Ireland, and the UK and Europe.
