DFS predicts swift payback with Microlise telematics26 April 2018

Sofa retailer DFS is rolling out a telematics solution from Microlise across its 360-strong delivery fleet, following a successful trial of the technology earlier this year.

The retailer is predicting swift payback, as Russell Harte, DFS group technology director, confirms: “We ran a successful Microlise Fleet Performance trial earlier this year and are confident we will quickly make a return on investment by delivering greater efficiency.”

The rollout is delivering a full suite of reports to help reduce fuel and maintenance costs, and improve the safety of the transport operation.

The fleet is being equipped with hardware to deliver real-time data on location and operations. A direct connection with each vehicle’s tachograph will enable driver identification via the web portal functionality, both in real time and historically.

DFS has also deployed the Microlise Safety Module which will enable speed, direction, accelerator position, braking, ABS status, gears, cruise control and clutch to be recorded, giving an overview in the seconds before and after an incident.
