Double achievement for Scania29 January 2014

Scania (Great Britain) has announced record sales in the UK for 2013, registering 6,846 trucks – and the group as a whole has been ranked as the world's most sustainable commercial vehicle manufacturer.

In the UK, the company's results in the large goods vehicle (LGV) sector outperformed the improving truck market, and boosted its share by 2% to 18.1%. The company retains its leading position with four-axle rigids, taking almost 30% of the market, with 25% and 19% of the two- and three-axle tractor unit sectors respectively.

Scania's overall share of the UK bus and coach sector rose from 7.6 to 8.3%. One in five of all heavy coaches registered last year were made by Scania.

Meanwhile, at the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, the Corporate Knights Global 100 list was published, with Scania ranked as the world's most sustainable commercial vehicle manufacturer.

The list includes companies from all sectors, scoring them on factors such as the amount of revenue generated per unit of energy consumption, the ratio of CEO to average worker salary, lost time injury rate, carbon emissions and leadership diversity.
