Drain Control takes delivery of four of the latest JetVac tankers 11 October 2010

Four Whale JetVac tankers have now joined south eastern drainage specialist Drain Control's 40-strong all-Whale fleet to operate on a range of contracts, including a four-year deal with a South East local authority.

Based on DAF CF75.360 6x2, 26-tonne rear lift and steer chassis, all Drain Control's JetVac tankers are equipped with a high pressure water jetting system using a Pratissoli MS50 high pressure pump, delivering 58 gallons per minute at 2000psi.

Drain Control's Bill Steans explains that they also have Whale's safe start-up on both the main self-aligning hydraulically-operated and manually-operated second hose reel, as well as vacuum capability, via a Mistral 701 exhauster/compressor.

And the most recent addition also features full-length, extra deep and lockable hose boxes to each side, as well as storage for road signs and Chapter 8 boards, two stainless steel tool lockers and a clothes locker for PPE.

Interestingly, to get Drain Control's reflex fluorescent orange livery right and minimise UV degradation, Whale used a 10-coat paint process, with two base coats of primer and white to the JetVacs' carbon steel 3,000 gallon capacity tipping tank, before adding a further six coats of the orange and the two lacquer top coats.

"Customers rightly expect us to support their requirements by deploying the latest equipment and the decision to bolster the strength of our tanker fleet reflects this," comments Steans. "We have already demonstrated the new JetVac tanker to a number of customers and the feedback has been very encouraging."
