Driver efficiency is target with new Scania service 15 March 2013

Scania has extended its focus on driver-development with the launch of Optimise, a service that provides on-going training, advice and assistance for commercial vehicle drivers.

The truck manufacturer says its new service will be available in three formats – Plus, Premium and Ultimate – and adds that Optimise "represents an innovative and flexible approach towards maximising efficiency in operation".

David Hickman, director of services development and service sales for Scania, states: "It is Scania's long-held belief that the driver is the most important part of the equation when it comes to fuel efficient operation.

"Now, and against a background of spiralling operating costs, we are redoubling our efforts to help our customers minimise their fuel spend."

Hickman goes on to say that Optimise is designed to cover every aspect of driver performance, including teaching how to drive with fuel-efficiency in mind, and includes regular follow-up sessions.

"To ensure that the needs of every driver are met, the programme is individually tailored, using information generated by Communicator, the Scania telematics system, fitted as standard to all Scania trucks today," explains Hickman.
