Drivers can tap into app to measure performance08 January 2014

Volvo Trucks has launched an app to give truck drivers information on their driving performance, relative to that of their colleagues.

One of the software's main features –fuel efficiency score – rates the driver's performance in four areas that impact the truck's fuel consumption.

These are: anticipation and braking; engine and gearbox utilisation; speed adaption; and standstill. The results are collated to produce an overall score.

The app is part of Volvo's Dynafleet fleet management system and gives information direct to the driver that was previously only available to the operator.

The app is available for iPads and iPhones, and does not require a Dynafleet subscription.

Last year, Volvo introduced a similar app for fleet managers and says this has already had 12,000 downloads.
