Dunlop unveils new range of on-road truck tyres for winter07 September 2016

Dunlop has unveiled its on-road range of truck tyres, designed to work in all weather conditions and ensuring fleets are prepared for the winter.

The SP346 steer (pictured) and SP446 drive tyres carry the 3PMSF symbol as well as M+S mark, signifying they reach the highest European standards for truck winter tyres.

“None of us know what’s ahead in terms of winter weather so it is essential to be prepared for all possibilities,” said Benjamin Willot, director marketing commercial tyres, Goodyear EMEA.

“Trucks that are stuck because they do not have the correct equipment in terms of tyres can result in failed deliveries and at worst lost contracts.”

As well as offering higher mileage and lower fuel consumption than its predecessor, the SP344, the new tread design of the SP346 steer tyre meets the stringent 3PMSF EU homologation requirements for truck snow tyres and the M+S marking.

The increased flexibility of the tread blocks, due to the deep sipes, allows better snow compaction compared to its predecessor. The high frequency zig zag sipes simultaneously target low wear, winter performance and aim high in wet grip index with the tread pattern being maintained throughout its life until it is ready for regrooving.

The Dunlop SP446 drive tyre also promises higher mileage than its predecessor, the SP444, as well as lowering fuel consumption. Traction is said to be improved, thanks to the ‘raindrop’ shape of the base of the sipes.
