DVSA launches updated Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness01 May 2014

The DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) launched an updated version of its Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness yesterday (30 April 2014) at the Commercial Vehicle Show, in Birmingham.

The new edition includes input from industry bodies, including the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), and features clarification on safety inspection intervals, new guidance on brake testing and maintenance facilities, and an update on walk-round checks.

The DVSA's Peter Hearn says the agency values the involvement of industry partners in producing the updated guide.

"The BVRLA and its members have a valuable role in improving safety standards through their quality assurance programme, which we have referenced in the guide as a source of best practice to ensure operators are meeting their obligations to regularly monitor the suppliers of vehicles," says Hearn.
