Eco Disc brake callipers gain popularity among truckers 11 November 2010

BPW's Eco Disc light weight, long life technology is already proving itself, just one year after launch, according to the company.

More than 100,000 brake callipers have already been produced at the firm's new production site in Germany, where over 1,000 Eco disc brake callipers are now rolling off the conveyor belt every day.

BPW says that its compact design is significant, with the calliper mounted directly to the axle beam, so eliminating the need for a brake carrier. The result, says the firm, is a unit that is not only more service-friendly, but also lighter weight, to the tune of 39kg in a tri-axle set.

As with all axles produced by BPW, the Eco Hub is a standard fitment on the Eco Disc, and can be removed as an entire unit that, in turn, allows the disc to be changed without removing the calliper.

On a three axle set, BPW reckons that can save one hour of workshop time – an advantage in the workshop and also for the trailer operator.
