EGR seals the deal for Cotswold Green bus 10 March 2010

Local bus operator Cotswold Green, in Gloucestershire, has put its first MAN/Plaxton Centro combination into service.

Cotswold Green managing director Robert Arkell says that the low floor and MAN's EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) Euro 5 'Add Nothing' engine technology aboard the A76 12.240 this10.7 metre chassis, were key to going for MAN.

"This is our first new vehicle," says Arkell, "and I knew we wanted to avoid all the hassles of using AdBlue. With a fleet of our size especially, AdBlue would add significant cost and complication."

And he adds: "I've heard lots of good things about MAN, and I know for a fact that many of the larger bus groups have either taken new MAN product, or are seriously considering a move to MAN."

MAN's engine choice is matched to a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox with integrated retarder.

Cotswold Green now runs a 16-vehicle fleet, operating throughout Gloucestershire. Its new bus is working on the Bath, Yate, Chipping-Sodbury service.
