Enviro-Clean’s Mercedes Arocs is a gritty performer17 August 2015

Scottish operator Enviro-Clean says its latest mobile vacuum cleaning vehicle, based on a Mercedes-Benz Arocs chassis, is proving a gritty performer in terms of robust build quality.

Supplied by dealer Western Commercial, the 8x4 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 chassis was supplied following a recommendation from body manufacturer Disab. It is fitted with the Disab Centurion LN20/HT body, with its own auxiliary engine and compressor, 12,000-litre tank and 200mm-diameter hose system.

The vehicle is used to clean up spillages or empty tanks in a variety of industrial applications – the machine can suck up liquid, slurry or dry materials by vacuum at a pressure of -950 millibars, then either blow them out again or empty contents by tipping.

The 32-tonne vehicle is powered by a 12.8-litre straight-six engine, generating 449bhp and driving through a PowerShift 3 automated transmission.

Findlay Robertson, Enviro-Clean's transport manager, says the Arocs chassis is an "excellent fit" for the Disab equipment.

"It was also keenly priced compared to other brands and, because we already run an eight-wheeled Arocs tipper, we have every confidence that it will prove highly reliable and very cost-effective to operate," he adds.

The vehicle has been supplied with a Mercedes-Benz R&M contract and will be maintained in Western Commercial's Bellshill workshop.
