Eskimo reports win-win with dual compartments on temperature-controlled vans16 April 2014

Courier company Eskimo Express has extended its 20-strong fleet of temperature-controlled vehicles with two Citroen Relay L3H2 vans, with dual compartment bodies by Paneltex Somers.

Paneltex's ATP-certified Flexi-Temp pharmaceutical-spec conversion means the vans can operate at -25°C in one compartment and +25°C in the other, so Chertsey-based Eskimo can now use one vehicle for multiple jobs.

The Flexi-Temp bulkhead system uses double seals to provide a thermally-efficient partition wall between the two compartments. Refrigeration is provided by a Thermoking V300 Max Spectrum dual evaporator refrigeration unit. Each vehicle has twin temperature recorders and satellite tracking with full European coverage.

The latest acquisitions follow on the back of an order for two Citroen Berlingos with Paneltex Somers conversion last year.

"Much of our courier work is specifically for the pharmaceutical industry and we have found that, apart from Paneltex Somers, no other vehicle body manufacturer can manufacture such a high level of refrigerated conversion that is ideally suited to this industry," says Eskimo's Tony Colato.

The Relays are expected to be in operation for up to six years and Eskimo will be ordering more of this type later in the year.
