Essex Bulk Services gains payload with MAN TGX 04 February 2015

Essex Bulk Services says it has gained at least half a tonne in payload from each of its 12 TopUsed, quality-approved MAN TGX 26.440 6x2 tractor units.

The Grays-based plastics recycling and bulk blower specialist has now earmarked a further 18 vehicles for acquisition this year.

"At just 8.3 tonnes, including PTO equipment plus a full tank of fuel, the new MAN TopUsed tractors are almost a full tonne lighter against another truck brand on our fleet," comments states transport director Garry Childs.

"Where weight is critical, that's a massive advantage for our overall productivity," he continues.

"We'll renew these vehicles in five years and if MAN is still offering such a clear weight advantage, then it will be a no-brainer for us to stay with them."

50% of the new MAN TopUsed acquisition has been funded through MAN Financial Services. All the trucks, however, have been fitted with MAN fleet management packages.

That includes MAN telematics technology, which has already resulted in two insurance claims settled in Essex Bulk Services' favour.

"The front-mounted camera has proved instrumental in contesting two spurious insurance claims against us," confirms Childs.

"After analysis by the insurance companies, it was clear that in each case, the car driver was at fault – thus saving the company substantial costs."

The new MAN trucks are already in service on Essex Bulk Services' 'bag-in-a-box' recyclable waste deliveries scheme. Bulk trailers with blowing equipment complete the company's specialist dry-bulk transport offering.
