Euro 6 New Vito joins the JJX Logistics air force 30 June 2015

JJX Logistics, which provides transport services to the aerospace and aviation sectors, has commissioned one of Britain’s first New Vito vans from Mercedes-Benz.

The Wolverhampton-based firm, which is a member of the Midlands Aerospace Alliance, took delivery of its 3.2-tonne New Vito Extra-long from the Kidderminster branch of Rygor.

Britain's largest Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealer also recently delivered a 3.5-tonne Sprinter 316 CDI with curtainside body by Truck Engineering, of Darlaston.

Both join JJX Logistics's fleet of 24 vans – most of which are Sprinters although the line-up also includes six Vitos and a single, small Citan, plus four trucks – a 7.5-tonner and three Mercedes Actros tractor units.

"To be honest I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to vans," states company founder John Donovan.

"I bought one of the first Euro 6 models, a temperature-controlled Sprinter, a year ago, and now I'm one of the first customers for the New Vito," he continues.

"It doesn't matter whether you're talking about reliability, durability, comfort, safety or just all-round quality, Mercedes-Benz vans are streets ahead of the competition."

The latest addition to the JJX Logistics fleet came with the optional Driving Assistance package, which includes Collision Prevention Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist systems.

It also has Tempmatic Air Conditioning, an LED intelligent light system, a Comfort driver's seat and Chrome interior trim.

The New Vito is powered by an Mercedes' 2.1-litre engine delivering 163bhp output via a six-speed manual transmission. The first low-emission Euro 6 engine in the mid-sized van class drives the rear wheels.

The van also came with a standard-fit package of fuel-saving enhancements including alternator management, improved underbody aerodynamics and the ECO start/stop function.

"It's important that our vehicles should convey the right image, as well as being comfortable and as safe as possible for our drivers," comments Donovan.

"I always load them with options, and Rygor do a great job of ensuring that they arrive on time and to the correct specification," he says.

"Back-up is crucial too, and I take great comfort from knowing that in the unlikely event one of my vans goes down when it's on the Continent, day or night Mercedes-Benz are always on the end of the phone and help is never far away."
