‘Eye-catching’ Irizar i6 wins new orders07 August 2015

Kerb appeal is top of the list for Irizar coach users, with two orders from an existing customer and a new order from a first-time Irizar operator.

Johnson Bros of Workshop has taken two Irizars this year, as part of its fleet upgrade programme.

The first, a 57-seater, has a DAF MX11-271 engine and ZF EcoLife gearbox combination, and is liveried for the operator's Redfern Travel brand.

Director Lee Johnson says the vehicle has "instant passenger appeal" and adds: "It's a futuristic design on the i6 – very eye catching."

Its second delivery (pictured) is one of the first 13.2m, tri-axle super-high i6 Integrals in the UK. The 53-seater is powered by a DAF MX11 340 engine and has a ZF AS-Tronic gearbox.

The vehicle has been specified to a high standard, with a floor-mounted toilet, deeply padded PB seats, a Frenzel kitchen unit, and power sockets and wifi.

Gee Vee Travel of Barnsley, meanwhile, has broken its 23-year policy of buying another marque and taken its first Irizar i6 Integral.

The i6's Euro 6 DAF Paccar MX11 320 engine was part of the appeal, according to the operator.

The 12.9m, two-axle, 53-seater also has a centre toilet, twin-screen DVD system, dash-mounted fridge, reversing camera, air horns and is fully carpeted.

Owner Gordon Clarke describes the vehicle as "an eye-catcher and the customers love it".
