Fifteen flagship DAF XFs arrive at GBA Services 09 January 2012

Trans-European logistics specialist GBA Services has taken delivery of 15 DAF XF105 Super Space Cab tractor units fully wrapped in vinyl with the company's new livery.

All 4x2s plated at 40 tonnes, and hauling 4m-high tri-axle straight-frame trailers, the 460bhp tractor units are destined for doubled-manned international work, transporting electrical and automotive parts.

They have been fitted with AS-Tronic automated gearboxes, DAF engine brakes and side skirts, and each is destined to cover up to 150,000km per year over the next five years.

Transport manager William Jessop explains that the main reasons for choosing the DAF XF105 were fuel economy, driver appeal and the quality of the aftersales back up service.

"Our drivers like the Super Space cab, the spaciousness, the high quality fittings and the level of comfort," he says.

All were supplied through dealer Lancashire DAF, which is also providing 10 DAF LF 7.5-tonners. Scheduled to cover a similar mileage over a similar period to the XF105s, they too are to be deployed on double-manned cross-border work, and are being fitted with Hatcher sleeper cab extensions.

All the DAF LFs are equipped with 20ft bodies – an assortment of boxes and curtainsiders – while one truck is being specially equipped with an AS-Tronic gearbox.

"The reasons for choosing the 180bhp LFs are much the same as those for selecting the XF105s," states Jessop. "They offer good fuel economy, driver appeal and a class-leading payload capacity."
