First four LNG tractors for haulier improving its eco-credentials01 May 2020

A logistics company has added four eco-friendly vehicles to its fleet as it continues to ‘invest in the future’.

Tamworth business Lloyds Transport and Warehousing worked with truck dealer Guest Truck and Van to assess its eco-requirements before selecting IVECO Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Powered tractor units to add to its fleet, choosing four Stralis 6x2 NP LNG trucks.

Lloyds Transport is a national haulage and logistics company that provides transport and haulage facilities to companies of all types and sizes, including many manufacturers within the FMCG and food and drink sectors.

Director Colin Whorton said: “We explored the market of vehicle manufacturers in search of the most eco-friendly trucks available today, and after trialing several types we chose LNG from IVECO as the preferred fuel and manufacturer combination. Guest Truck and Van gave us the opportunity of an extended trial of its Iveco Stralis 6x2 NP LNG demonstrator, which gave us amazing results regarding fuel consumption, and consequently an order was placed.”

The trucks were acquired on a five-year contract hire deal with maintenance included.

Shaun Sangha, account manager for heavy truck sales at Guest Truck and Van said: “LNG is becoming an increasingly popular choice for some fleets, although we are finding that managers do need to make sure that the vehicles are right for them with a real-world test before making their decision.”

Guest Truck and Van is the largest IVECO dealer in the UK with 13 different locations.
