First grows business with new Junair spraybooth 29 September 2015

First Glasgow’s £25 million bus depot and head office has been equipped with a high-specification Junair commercial spraybooth with two pneumatic access platforms and a paint mixing room.

Caledonia depot is First Glasgow’s bespoke facility and the largest bus depot in the UK for vehicle repair, and Martin Brand, First Glasgow’s major repair business manager, says the new spraybooth is delivering commercial opportunities.

“Our state-of-the-art facilities, combined with the high skill level of our staff, means we now offer our commercial vehicle repair services to the retail market outside of FirstGroup,” states Brand.

“For example, we have used our spraybooth to repaint vehicles for Strathclyde Partnership for Transport,” he explains.

Brand says that First researched several spraybooth vendors, but the decision to choose Junair was “made easy due to their impressive energy saving technology”.

And he adds: “As we start our operations with the new spray booth we should quickly see a clear energy consumption saving.”

First’s commercial spraybooth has been fitted with Junair’s QADs, designed to accelerate air movement from the corners and centre of the cabin. The system speeds up the drying process, so reducing energy consumption.

They are also claimed to provide an even temperature distribution, while a fuel saver mode automatically changes the air handling plant to recirculation during idle and flash off modes.

The Junair spraybooth measures 16m x 5.5m x 5.5m, and enables easy access and manoeuvrability when preparing and painting double deck vehicles.

It uses twin side chest extraction units for overspray removal and is operated using Junair’s iSystem touch screen, which allows operatives to select from pre-set bake cycles.
