First new Volvo FH tanker for RTS Contractors15 August 2018

Waste management and drainage business RTS Contractors has taken delivery of a Volvo FH13 8x4 rigid tanker – the first new vehicle to join its all-Volvo fleet.

Supplied by dealer Hartshorne Motor Services, the Uttoxeter-based operator’s latest addition is based on a 5,600mm wheelbase, High B Ride chassis.

It is powered by a D13K Euro VI engine rated at 494bhp. An AT2612F I-Shift automated manual transmission system includes enhanced PTO functions, and completing the powertrain are Volvo RTS2370A single reduction drive axles with differential and cross locks.

The FH is fitted with a RTN Clayton Vallely high performance combi vacuum tanker, with a total capacity of 4,200 gallons. A Samson vacuum pump and a Speck jetting pump are also included.

“We needed a good chassis to put under a specialist jet vac tanker. Technically this is a complex vehicle, but the specification was easy to do,” says Rob Saint, general manager at RTS Contractors.

“In our opinion Volvo trucks are the best chassis to put under these complex bodies.”

The vehicle is supplied with a three-year Volvo Gold R&M contract and is expected to be in operation for between eight and ten years.
