First Renault tipper joins Gowing and Pursey fleet10 July 2012

Waste management firm Gowing and Pursey has taken delivery of its first Renault truck – an 8x4 Kerax 430 Euro 5 tipper.

The rigid joins the company's 40-strong, predominantly DAF, fleet, and has been fitted with Renault's Global Cab as well as its Optidriver+ transmission, making it the first truck in the fleet with an automated gearbox.

The Kerax, which was supplied by Renault Trucks London, has been equipped with Hyva roll-on, roll-off hook loader equipment, and will operate out of the company's depots in Acton and Ruislip for contractors in and around London.

"What impressed me most about the Renault Kerax is its excellent build quality," comments company director, Jack Biel, who made the decision after a visit to the company's production plant in France.

"There is zero failure tolerance at the engine production stage. Any problems are sorted and dealt with at this first stage," he continues.

"Our vehicles operate on a constant stop-start basis so the Renault Kerax's automated gearbox was a crucial choice for us, as it is safer, reduces driver error and means less clutch wear," he concludes.
