First Renaults return 13mpg for Hi Speed Services 18 March 2013

Following fuel trials, Southern and Midlands-based transport company Hi Speed Services has added its first Renault trucks to the 48-strong, primarily Mercedes-Benz truck fleet.

Delivered through Renault Trucks South, the three Renault Premium 460.25 6x2s, with Excellence cabs, and two Renault Midlum 270.18 trucks – one with a day cab and the other a sleeper cab – are achieving fuel returns of up to 13mpg.

"Not only did the Renault Premium outperform the Mercedes Actros in the initial fuel trials, but we have since seen an average of 10.62mpg across all the new Renaults," reports Jamie Boazman, regional director at Hi Speed Services, Rugby.

And he continues: "With some results coming in at up to 13mpg, we are achieving the highest returns on our fleet."

Ian Dawkins, managing director of Hi Speed Services, adds: "Historically, our fleet has been on contract hire. However, due to cost efficiencies, this is something we are now looking to move away from."

The new Renault trucks will be based at the company's site in Rugby, transporting full loads for blue chip clients across the UK and Europe.
