Supplied by JDS Truck and Van, the 32-tonner has a sleeper cab and is fitted to a 4ft 6in Fruehauf planksider semi-bulker tipping body. It has additional chassis reinforcement from the front of the drive axle to the rear for improved durability when working on construction sites.
Davies – a franchise driver for Clwyd Transport Services – chose a high interior spec, which includes heated seats with leather trim, performance lower bunk with dedicated lighting and remote control, 24-litre ‘quiet’ fridge, night heater, and leather steering wheel with cruise and telephone control.
The cab’s space was a key factor for Davies, as he explains: “It feels like it’s got ten times more room than my old truck – it’s as if the Range C was designed by a driver and built with the driver top of mind.
“The comfort is second to none and there’s so much room in the cab that I can actually stand up to get dressed.”
Recommendation also played a part in the choice: “The Range C came highly recommended to me by other operators, so I just sat in one and was blown away. The competitive deal on the table, including a four-year warranty, was the icing on the cake.”
He adds: “I couldn’t have chosen a better truck. It’s been on the road now for about six weeks and, as well as the comfort, the initial fuel figures are promising and it looks like I’m getting an additional 3mpg more than my old vehicle.”
